Chesapeake may close Brussels carton plant

-- Converting Magazine, 5/19/2008

Richmond, VA-based paperboard converter Chesapeake Corp. (www.chesapeakecorp.com) says May 13 that it has proposed closing its carton-manufacturing plant in Brussels, Belgium. If the reorganization is accepted and the Brussels plant closed, production will be transferred to Chesapeake's operation in Gent, Belgium.

The proposed closure process would take place over the coming months, and the jobs of the 42 employees at the Brussels plant could be deemed redundant. Chesapeake will consult with employee representatives regarding the reorganization proposal and will offer an employee support program if the closure occurs.
