Curtis Packaging wins CT Clean Energy Award
-- Converting Magazine, 4/1/2008
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund honors Sandy Hook, CT-based folding-carton converter Curtis Packaging as a 2008 recipient of its Clean Energy Communities Award. The award recognized Curtis Packaging’s commitment to clean, renewable energy and how their purchase is leading the success of the Clean Energy Community campaign in Newtown, CT. Curtis Packaging’s commitment to renewable energy through the CTCleanEnergyOptions™ Program has resulted in the City of Newtown qualifying for a free solar-energy system from the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund. As part of this commitment, Curtis Packaging has purchased enough clean, renewable energy to account for 100-percent of their electricity needs, ranking it among the leaders in the printing/packaging Industry. The estimated environmental benefits of the converter’s renewable energy purchase are equivalent to not consuming 400,000 gallons of gasoline or offsetting the annual electricity use of 466 homes.
“We thank the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund for recognizing our commitment with our environment and our community,” says Don Droppo, Jr., senior vp of sales and marketing. “It’s exciting to be part of an effort that delivers the benefits of clean energy to community where we live and work.”
