Mexico's Altopro to add Galileo metallizer at new BOPP plant

-- Converting Magazine, 4/21/2008

Altopro S.A. de C.V. (www.altopro.com.mx), a leading OPP producer in Mexico, will add metallizing capacity to its new Irapuato BOPP-film plant. Galileo Vacuum Systems (www.galileovacuum.com) will install the site’s first metallizer—a GOLD 2812, which joins another Galileo metallizer installed in 2001 as well as multiple slitter/rewinders that the supplier has provided over the years.

“The new plant will more than double our existing BOPP-manufacturing capacity,” says Altopro president/CEO Antonio Simon. “It is strategically located to efficiently serve both the Mexican and US markets. Our first line is expected to be in production early 2009.”

“The new metallizer will include several technological advances that Galileo has introduced in its GOLD metallizer line,” adds Galileo CEO Pietro Profumo, “among them is a new high-rate evaporation geometry that, while increasing the aluminum deposition and operating speed of the machine, will dramatically reduce the aluminum consumption by optimizing aluminum collection efficiency.”
