Flexo quality prompts switch from gravure for shrink labels
-- Converting Magazine, 7/7/2008
Through the addition of a new Primaflex® CM CI-flexo press from Windmoeller & Hoelscher, Reynolds Flexible Packaging has convinced a major customer to switch from gravure to flexo printing for its shrink-sleeve labels. Neilson Dairy opted to change its nationally-recognized Canadian brands to Reynolds’ new flexo printing because of the quality and additional flexibility in re-ordering low-volume items with decreased costs.
“As one of the leading suppliers of shrink labels in the US, we’re very excited to offer our customers the opportunity of virtually gravure-quality printing but with the economies of flexo," says Reynolds marketing manager Terry Copenhaver.
Running at Reynolds’ Downingtown, PA, plant, the Primaflex CM has 10 color decks and features “easy-set” fully automatic impression setting system and TURBOCLEAN® 600 automatic inking and washup. The machine provides efficient changeover times with sleeve-type, quick-change plate cylinder and anilox roll changeover systems, an automatic viscosity control system and an inline slitting unit. The Downingtown Packaging Plant specializes in gravure and flexo printing for the pharmaceutical and food/beverage industries.
