Shorewood Packaging opens new carton plant in China

-- Converting Magazine, 3/25/2008

Shorewood Packaging opened its new folding-carton converting plant March 20 in Kunshan, China, near Shanghai. More than 100 guests, including customers from 19 consumer products companies and representatives from the local government, attended opening ceremonies presided over by International Paper chairman/CEO John Faraci.

“The expansion of Shorewood Packaging in Asia aligns with our business strategy to grow where our customers are growing, enabling us to meet their needs for quality packaging,” says Ethel Scully, senior vice president of Shorewood’s Consumer Products Business. “The launch of this facility creates the opportunity to build closer relationships with an increasing number of consumer products companies seeking packaging in the rapidly growing domestic market in China.”

Shorewood Packaging Kunshan will serve both domestic China and international customers in several key market segments–most notably cosmetics, fragrances, personal-care, confectionery and OTC pharmaceuticals.

The new 120,000-sq-ft Shorewood Kunshan facility features digital prepress, CTP technology, offset printing, foil stamping and embossing, as well as converting and finishing capabilities.
